Minutes from the scheduled July meeting were not presented. While club officers/directors were
present, one member was in attendance, and not wanting to appear to have had a closed meeting
we decided not to convene.   Over dinner those present did discuss club financial health and
organization structure in general terms.

Communications
Christina Frost communicated a desire to establish a photo backdrop for our shows and indicated
an interest in pursuing this idea.

Treasurer Report
Funds status was reviewed and accepted.  Preliminary financial results from the July show were
presented and showed a net loss of $2,132.   The club is year to date showing a net loss of
approximately$15,000 from such things as pre-purchased awards, insurance etc.  The largest
single component is attributable to the year-end awards and banquet ($11,000). Funds on hand as
of the report were $74,476.
Royalty Report
Tryouts were held at the July show and happily there continues to be interest in the program.
This year’s Royalty are:

Laura Henning-Queen
Christina Frost-Princess
Danielle Todd-Jr. Queen
Mallory Dobbs-Jr. Princess

Congratulations to all of you!!! Coronations will be held on Saturday night, Sept 13th, at the Sept
Poor Boy Show.

Director Report
Concerns from a member about the status of PtHA show points on the association website were
addressed at the July show and, for general information, the problem can be associated with an
unanticipated and anticipated reduction in staff caused by a termination and pregnancy.  Due to
the reduced number of registrations in the industry (less so for Pinto) the decision to restaff the
one vacancy was postponed.  Darryl forecasted the site update for the weekend of the July show
(which has occurred) and we have since discussed ideas regarding how to deal with seasonal
fluctuations in workload at Pinto.   His initiative to preload the approved class structures has not
yet matured which is one of the reasons that the workload spikes so badly at Pinto.  When
approved shows are setup earlier in the system, this will flatten the workload and should improve
timeliness of results.

An initial meeting of regional club representatives is planned to be held in conjunction with the
Halloween show at Boring, OR.  Clubs will be asked to determine their interest in and appoint a
representative to a joint committee to study the feasibility of a Regional or Zone show in 2010.

Championship Rides
Please contact Kim if you are planning on doing a ride at one of our shows.  She will need your
Championship certificate.  The rides will be split up during the 3 days of the show, so please let
Kim also know when you would like to do your presentation.

Show Status
Participation was down significantly with 35% fewer horses (130) and goes (713) over last year.
Conflicts with the Arabian Region 5 show were part of the problem, but do not explain the total
drop in participation.  Another contributor is thought to be the success of the Firecracker show in
Oregon which immediately preceded our date.  Some of this pressure will be alleviated in 2009
and 2010 as you can see from our dates below.

The stimulus hoped for from the saddle raffle during the April and July shows does not appear to
have happened.  As noted on the PtHAWW show entry premiums, VanMar Arabian/Pintos in
association with Mike’s Western Suppliers and C&L Western Apparel of Enumclaw donated a
saddle.  A raffle ticket was given for each 5 classes a participant entered at the April and July
shows.  During the August Cascade Jubilee Pinto show, Queen Laura Henning drew the winning
ticket. The winner (drum roll please!!!) is Vicki Lindgren of Gig Harbor, WA.  Congratulations Vicki!!!!

During a discussion concerning awards Mary Britton expressed dismay that work she and
Heather had done to offer alternative show award options had not been sufficiently timely to be
considered by the membership for the 2008 show year.    The membership continues to be open
to a report from this committee and invites the product of their work to be presented at the next
club meeting.   This will allow us to review the options and vote on potential changes to the
award structure in conjunction with the report from the Show Committee meeting scheduled for 9
AM Sept 27th at Kricket’s in Spanaway.

A motion was presented and approved to hold a general meeting Friday evening during the
September Poor Boy show. Dale Henning and Dale Smith (at least) will work to develop topics to
be presented.  Our new Vice President, Tami Whitt, will lead the meeting. If you wish to contribute
or participate,  please contact Dale Henning.
